EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:

Today, I have installed the latest version of Akeeba Backup. I have also chosen the "Restore Point" option and the corresponding plugin is enabled. Afterwards, I have updated the "Advanced Module Manager" (provided by NoNumber!) to the latest version. Nevertheless, no restore point has not been created. What could be the problem?

Restore points kick in only when updating software by uploading the new version through the Joomla! extensions installer. In all other cases, including using Peter's update manager, it won't kick in.

Hi Nicholas,

OK, I understand, however, in this case I did use the Joomla! extensions installer and not Peter´s (I guess you know each other) update manager. Or is the update manager included in the advanced module manager package I am uploading?

Just one more question: If I use Admin Tools to update my Joomla! installation from 1.5.22 to 1.5.25, will a restore point be set by Akeeba Backup?

Hello Netzy,

If you're using the extensions installer, a restore point should be taken if you have enabled the System Restore Point plugin. You may have to reinstall Akeeba Backup if that feature doesn't work.

No, when upgrading Joomla! (which is not an extension) you are given the option to take a full backup of your site. You can't have a restore point of Joomla!. It's Joomla!. It's not an extension of Joomla!. Joomla! = full site = full site backup.

In other words, I have to delete the component and the plugin and reinstall the backup package?

Now I´ve got it ;-)

Thanks

Not delete. Install again, without uninstalling.
