Joomla! version: 1.5.26
PHP version: 5.2.14
MySQL version: 5.1.34
Host: Lagoon - New Caledonia
Akeeba Backup version: 3.4.2

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:
When i try to parameter my dropbox, an error Message popup with this message (sorry in french, but as I have seen a tweet you're a sponsor for Joomla Day Fr, maybe it is not a problem ;-)

As i'm using Akeeba with Dropbox on a lot of other website not on this host, and have absolutely no problem. So i'm pretty sure that it is coming from the hosting parameters, but do you mind to have a suggestion if it is possible to fix it up ?

If needed i can give Joomla admin, FTP or MySQL access...

Thanks by advance...

This means that your host doesn't allow Akeeba Backup to connect to Dropbox' API server (api.dropbox.com). Most likely they have a firewall which causes that. The problem is that api.dropbox.com is anycast DNS, so there is no way you can supply your host with a fixed list of IPs to allow on their firewall. I'd say that if your host has a firewall for outgoing connections, it's nigh impossible to use Dropbox. Also note that the old Dropbox integration we had was a hack (it wasn't using the Dropbox API) and doesn't work anymore. The only way to connect to Dropbox is through their official API and their official API isn't compatible with hosts which have a firewall for outgoing connections. Maybe you should try using Amazon S3 instead?

Hi Nicholas,
thanks for your usual quick & clear answer. I wanted to use just a DropBox Account for my autosave, but see it is not possible... so... I'm trying another solution : by mail with an applescript.

Thanks for all and have a nice day...

You're welcome! Based on my experience, the best remote storage provider (in terms of price, features, scalability, security and compatibility) is Amazon S3, hands down :) You might want to consider it. IMHO, it's infinitely smoother than mail and Applescript.
