Have I read the related troubleshooter articles above before posting (which pages?)? Yes
Have I searched the tickets before posting? Yes
Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? Yes (install guide for Akeeba Backup Pro esp the remote site backup instructions)
Joomla! version: (mostly 1.5 sites and some 2.5 sites)
PHP version: 5.2.17
MySQL version: 5.0.92-community
Host: WHM/Cpanel
Akeeba Backup version: pro 3.4.3

Apologies if this in a post but my searching didn't reveal it.

If possible how can I configure Akeeba Backup Pro to keep 6 files on the server but every month to also export one backup to Amazon S3.

I have configured the local backups to daily, keeping 6 and saving the last 3 days and not deleting the first of each month. So I have the three most recent daily backups and the three most recent monthly backups. This seems to work fine and I'm very happy with it.

Then I've added the offsite backup option to Amazone S3 but it is saving all the daily backups offline . So it seems when I add the offsite backup option it takes a copy of EVERY backup and stores it on the remote server.

How can I keep my local setup as above but just have a monthly offsite backup. This is to reduce bandwidth costs. So I want to keep 6 local backups on the web server but save one per month to Amazon S3.

Thanks again for your fantastic software and all help most appreciated.

Regards Nick

You have to create two profiles.

One backup profile will have the count quotas set to 6 and no post-processing. The other profile will have the count quota set to 1 and set to upload to Amazon S3. Schedule the first profile to run every day, the second one to run once per month (note: scheduling is done though your server's CRON interface, not Akeeba Backup)

That's why we have multiple backup profiles. They give you the option to be as flexible as you wish :)

fantastic! Thanks Dr Nick
Can i still use lazy scheduler with multiple profiles. Cron seems scary even on Cpanel

No, one of the known issues with Lazy Scheduling (besides that it's not supported any more) is that it supports one and only one profile. If you find CRON scary, I'd suggest taking a look at webcron.org. It works perfectly with Akeeba Backup's front-end backup feature and it's very cheap :)

thanks Mr Nick
ah no cron it is. I'll go read up on it. Do you have a sample cpanel cron?

Yes, we do have cPanel setup instructions midway through the documentation page for the native CRON script. Look for "Setting up a CRON job on cPanel".

Thanks Mr Nicholas
One other question or it might be a feature request? Is there any way of setting up one site configuration for Akeeba Backup Pro and then using it for multiple sites on the same server?

We have a cpanel server with around 200 Joomla sites. Our job for Tuesday is to install admin Tools and Akkeeba Pro on all the sites and then configure Akeeba Pro with multiple profiles for local and remote backup as above.

One of our techs worked out how to edit the default Akeeba install profile to include our config but I don't think this will work with multiple profiles. We do have access to PHPMyAdmin on the server level if it could be done with SQL?

I did some googling but it doesn't seem to have been asked before. (apologies if I missed it)

Is this something you've solved or would consider adding to future releases. Being able to copy, automate or sync the backup config for multiple sites would be a great time saver.

Many thanks for your great support and programs.

Regards Nick

Anyway please feel free to close this ticket at any point and please delete the 3 other ones I accidentally created apologies for the error.

Having one Akeeba Backup installation to backup hundreds of sites is not possible.

If you want to transfer settings between sites, do the following:
- Set the output directory to [DEFAULT_OUPTUT] (all caps, include the brackets)
- Disable the settings encryption (in the Component Parameters)
- Only after having done the previous two steps you can copy the contents of your jos_ak_profiles table to all of the new sites to keep the same settings among all sites.
