EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it. (Not available)

Description of my issue:

I would like to backup an installation remotely with akeeba backup BUT I cannot install akeeba backup due to server/directory security and I cannot access via FTP. I can however, get full access to the Joomla Admin. How can I backup a complete Joomla installation without being able to install akeeba backup on that server and without access to FTP on that server - BUT with access to Joomla Admin please?

Really hope that this is possible as the client really needs a backup!

Besides walking down to the physical server and ripping off the hard drive, there is no way you can do it. At the very least you need FTP access. What kind of host is that who won't give you FTP access to your site?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

It's a clients setup - the host is a private host - and not very forthcoming with FTP access or cpanel access.

Short of taking a snapshot and then recreating the whole site again I'm not sure what the best path to go is. I guess keep persisting with FTP access. We've asked them to install akeeba backup themselves to overcome the issue - but even that is taking a long time.

Gives the industry a bad name!

You can put it that way to the client: a car mechanic who is allowed access only to the driver's seat but not to the car's engine can not be held accountable for any problems with the car. Likewise, you can not be help accountable for anything wrong happening to the site if you are not provided with FTP and cpanel access. I mean, you do need some bare minimum of tools to work with.
