Hello,

Be aware that Akeeba Backup and the Joomla 2.5.4 currently state that a new version (3.5a2) is available.

This is NOT a production version and currently causes problems.

If you have downloaded this update and find Akeeba missing, you should do the following.

Got to Administrator/Extension Manager/Manage.

Uninstall Akeeba Core.

Download the current Akeeba 3.4.3 version.

Go to Administrator/Extension Manager/Upload Package File.

Once installed run the Configuration Wizard.

Once completed, run an Akeeba Backup.

Hope that helps others who may have found the same issue.

NOTE:

Both Akeeba Backup and the Joomla 2.5.4 will continue to advise that a new version is available until this issue is fixed.

You should IGNORE the notification from Akeeba and ensure that the Akeeba update option in Administrator/Extension Manager/Update is unselected until the error is fixed.

Regards,

CHRIS

Nicolas,

This shouldn't be appearing as a production site update yet.

It causes your excellent product to disappear from menus and control panel amongst other issues.

The missing menu link is a different issue. It's a bug in Joomla! 1.6 and later, discussed in our installation troubleshooting.

Regarding the availability of alpha releases, there is an option in Component Configuration for you to select the minimum stability of update notifications. If you select "Stable" (the default value since Akeeba Backup 3.4.0) you will not be notified for alpha releases.

Hello,

In Akeeba Backup for Joomla 2.5 the Component Configuration option doesn't actually exist.

Component Parameters is where the Update Level option exits.

Perhaps you should send out ACCURATE information across all JOOMLA versions you allegedly support huh?

It saves the rest of us time farting about deciphering incorrect advice.

Spending good money should equate to accurate support.
