Joomla! version: 2.5.4

Description of my issue:

Hello Nicholas,

I have problems to do my backups automatically with webcron. I get an error 403 as seen below:

HTTP/1.1 403 Forbidden
Date: Sat, 12 May 2012 23:42:45 GMT
Server: Apache/2.2.21
X-Powered-By: PHP/5.3.10
...

The secret key and all properties are OK.
When I'm doing a backup manually at the backend, everything is working fine! Is that a similar problem as described in the other support tickets, or do we need another fix to solve this problem?

Thank you for your response!

Greetings,

Michael

P.S.: I cannot attach a log file, it was not generated because of the error 403

That 403 error seems to be coming from your web server, long before Akeeba Backup has the chance to handle the request. Can you try accessing the URL from your browser? What is the result?

Hello Nicholas!

Thank you for your fast reply. Accessing the URL from my browser also brings an error 403. So I was looking up per FTP on the webspace at the com_akeeba folder and I found the solution. The backup-folder was missing (I don't know why)! Perhaps the matter is an uncompletly installation. So I decided to uninstall the alpha-version first and to do a new installation of the stable version.
Now everything is working. I'll better wait for the new 3.5.x stable version, because your backup software is essential for our site. Many people are doing changes on the webpages, so the chances for problems are also growing up.
I'm very glad that you are developing such an amazing and great software and like to thank you for that!

Greetings,

Michael

There is no backup folder in the new release. The file which handles that is components/com_akeeba/controllers/backup.php. I will have a look at it to make sure that it doesn't cause any problems.

OK, I tested it again right now. The only way to get the "403 Access denied" message is entering the wrong secret key in the URL, or mistyping the key query parameter. There was no partial installation or bug in this case, just a plain old typo :)

Hello!

According to ticket 12277: secret key, query parameters and so on have been OK, but I'm using SEF components. But now I'm looking forward to the new stable version cooming soon. After testing, I'll give you a feedback. I'll also close this ticket, when it's positive.

Thanks for your help,

Michael

Michael, you may also try the dev release. Most likely it will be identical to the stable release (it's only pending the final testing). I'd appreciate it if you could, too, confirm that it works.

It works! Good work, Nicholas! The only thing is, that this version wants me to give in the Download-ID, but that is already done..

I will have to take a look at the Download ID issue. Thank you for the feedback on the front-end backup feature!
