Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the related troubleshooter articles above before posting (which pages?)? Yes
Have I searched the tickets before posting? Yes
Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? Yes (Using webcron.org to automate your backups)
Joomla! version: 2.5.4
PHP version: 5.3.6
MySQL version: 5.1.61-cll
Host: norskvann.no
Akeeba Backup version: 3.5.a2

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: no log file

Description of my issue: Essential the same as #12272. Backend backup works fine. Frontend backup worked according to plan until my recent update to 3.5.a2, whereupon the 403-error started. (403 - Not authorized to view this page)

I have re-checked possible typos without finding any.

Other solutions?

Please go to Akeeba Backup's control panel and click on Component Parameters. Make sure that "Enable front-end and remote backup" is set to Yes and the "Secret word" is set. It is possible that Joomla! reset these options on upgrade. I did test the remote backups just half an hour ago and it does work.

Another thing that could be interfering is a SEF component which performs a redirection to an invalid URL. It's a good idea to disallow SEF components from handling URLs for com_akeeba.

Finally, it's possible that if a POST request is made instead of a GET a 403 error will be thrown. I will also make a small change to make sure that this won't happen in the stable release.

The parameters were not reset and have been re-checked according to the documentation.
No SEF-components are utilized.
I thus await the stable release … ;-)

I have just uploaded a new dev release (svn1515) which should fix that. Can you please test it and confirm that the remote backup works on your site?
