This is caused by a known Joomla! bug. Please consult our installation troubleshooting page (it applies to updates, too!) under "Joomla! 1.6/1.7/2.5 installation problems".

Please note that on some sites it may be necessary to rename the administrator/components/com_akeeba and/or the components/com_akeeba directories in order for the installation to be completed successfully.

Hi Nicholas,

Unfortunately I think I tried everything in the "installation troubleshooting page" but nothing seems to work.

Could we make this private to discuss further etc.

Many thanks

Cheers - Tony

You have to follow the instructions under "Joomla! 1.6/1.7/2.5 installation problems" for editing your database, then you have to install the component on top of your existing installation (do not uninstall) and the component should show right at the menu. If that still doesn't work, let me know and I'll make the ticket private.
