Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I searched the tickets before posting? Yes
Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? Yes
Joomla! version: (1.5.23)
PHP version: (5.3.5)
MySQL version: (unknown)
Host: (optional, but it helps us help you)
Akeeba Backup version: (3.1.5)

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue: I cannot restore using akeeba. It gives "could not connect to MySQL" as error. It is because the installation folder is missing from all of the backups. How can I fix this?

You gad set the backup mode to Files Only. In this mode only your site's files are being backed up, not your database. That's why there is no installation directory. If you don't have another, full site, backup then there's nothing you can do :(

I am trying to take another backup. Now it is just stuck to the "Backing up databases" with the table jos_bannertrack in the status area. Attached is the screenshot. It seems to be stuck at this step. I am taking the "Full site backup"
