Forgot to mention that I went through the suggestions in ticket #12409, but no luck.

Please go to your Akeeba Backup Configuration page and set the following configuration options:
- Minimum execution time: 1 second
- Maximum execution time: 4 seconds
- Runtime bias: 75%

If this doesn't work, try these values instead:
- Minimum execution time: 1 second
- Maximum execution time: 3 seconds
- Runtime bias: 50%

If you still have a problem, we'll have to go super conservative:
- Minimum execution time: 5 second
- Maximum execution time: 2 seconds
- Runtime bias: 50%

In case you're wondering what's going on, it seems that your host halts the backup script due to excessive CPU or memory usage. This is something which commonly occurs on resource capped but fast servers. The configuration parameters above try to throttle the backup down a bit, lowering the CPU and memory consumption. The above settings are considered vary conservative (the backup is ~20% slower than full speed), too conservative (~40% slower) and super conservative (~80% slower) respectively.

This is now resolved. I also filed a ticket Site 5 & shortly after the ticket was filed the server was momentarily down and then back up. After the server was back online the Akeeba backup worked like it always has, perfectly.

Thanks for the quick & thorough response and for the excellent extension.

Cheers
