Joomla! version: 1.5.22
PHP version: 5.2.13
MySQL version: 5.1.48-community
Host: (optional, but it helps us help you)
Akeeba Backup version: 3.4.3

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:
One of the site I manage has been moved to a Microsoft-IIS/6.0 set to run PHP. The backup for the database part is so slow in akeeba it takes 4-5 hours. Any advise will be appreciated.

I will need you to ZIP and attach the log file. Without it I have no idea what is going on and can't help you :(

Sorry forgot, here it is. If file only speed is fine, just the database is slow.

Much appreciated

Sorry for the delay. It seems that when I tried posting my answer earlier this week a network issue kicked in. I only saw it today that I was doing some clean up on past tickets. I'm terribly sorry about that!

I really don't see a problem. What I do see is that you have a ginormous table, #__jstats_impressions, with several hundreds of thousands of records. I'd suggest excluding that table using the Database Table Exclusion feature of Akeeba Backup.

There is also something more to note. Windows is notorious for terribly slow file system operations. Reading data from the database requires to, of course, first read from disk. I can see that you can read about 5,000 records per second. Obviously, of you have millions upon millions of rows this greatly increases your backup time. The bottleneck is the operating system. Not much we can do about it.

Finally, another thing. You are using PHP 5.2. PHP 5.3 is about three times faster than PHP 5.2. Also, PHP 5.4 is six to seven times faster than PHP 5.2. An upgrade of your PHP version will have a dramatic impact to the backup speed. These figures above come from my own benchmarks.
