Mandatory information about my setup:


Joomla! version: (2.5.6)
PHP version: (5.3.6)
MySQL version: (5.5.9)
Host: (xampp)
Akeeba Backup version: (3.4.3 core to 3.6.4)

Performed update using the Akeeba update button
After install immediately got a 500 error
page refresh showed install successfull

Go to component
Click backup now
Layout admin:com_akeeba/backup/form not found

In addition the extension manager is still showing the 3.4.3 admin notification module which it will not uninstall as the files have been removed but presumably not removed from the db

There is a known issue with the FOF library packaged with Akeeba Backup 3.6.4, Akeeba Subscriptions 2.4.1 and Akeeba Release System 2.0.3. The affected versions have been pulled off-line. Please upgrade these components to their latest versions.

If you are using Akeeba Backup Professional and you have enabled the System Restore Points feature you will have to disable the "System - System Restore Points" plugin first. If you do not see that plugin in your system and your site's interface is NOT in English, try searching for "PLG_SRP_TITLE" instead. Disable that plugin and install the latest version of the affected component(s).

If you no longer have access to the affected component's Live Update page, please download the latest version and install it on your site using Extensions, Manage Extensions without uninstalling your existing version.

Updating to 3.6.5 worked fine - no 500 error on install or missing form

But the update now says

Installed version 3.6.5
Latest version 3.4.3
Latest release date 2012-03-21

Clicking refresh makes no difference


PLUS how do i remove the orphaned entries for
Akeeba Backup Lazy Scheduling
Akeeba Backup Notification Module

But the update now says

The CDN will take another hour to update and the update cache on your site will take another 6 to clear. I had to rush the release before propagating the correct info to the CDN, sorry.

Good question. I do ask Joomla! to uninstall those extensions. I am not sure why it leaves orphan entries behind. Save from manual database editing I know of no other way.
