Joomla! version: 2.5.7
PHP version: 5.4.0
MySQL version: 5.6.6
Host: Local server - IIS7.5

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:

Just updated to latest version of backup and get the following error:
AEAbstractDump :: Database Error: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'OPTION SQL_BIG_SELECTS=1' at line 1 SQL=SET OPTION SQL_BIG_SELECTS=1

v3.6.3 worked OK - grateful for any guidance on this one. Have been a happy user of backup and tolls for the last year - a great product and will be renewing my subscription when due...

Hello Steve,

The enforcement of the BIG_SELECTS variable has been in my code for over a year. According to the MySQL manual this option should be available in MySQL 5.6.6, the version you are using. One part which isn't very clear (and I'm by no means a MySQL DBA who would be able to know for sure) is whether you need the SUPER privilege on your MySQL user account to use the SET OPTION command.

Since this is a self managed site please try granting your database user the SUPER option.

If this is not possible please tell me if you have enabled the Debug System option in Joomla!'s Global Configuration. If you haven't I will have to try doing a small workaround in my code to let this error not halt the backup.

Thanks for the info. The database user was a SUPER user and Joomla Global Debug is not enabled. I have reverted to MySQL 5.5.27 and everything is now working so it does look like an issue with 5.6.6.

Keep up the great work with a superb set of products. :-)

That's interesting. The manual said that MySQL 5.6 should still support that option. I'll see if I can make this error not halt the backup. Thank you for the heads up!
