Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the related troubleshooter articles above before posting (which pages?)? yes

Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? yes
Joomla! version: 2.5
PHP version: (unknown)
MySQL version: (unknown)
Host: strato
Akeeba Backup version: the newest

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:
Can I use the site transfer wizard to move my entire website from www.swat-mission.com to www.swatmission.de)?
And if not, is there another way?

Background to this: I use strato (german hoster) and changed the subscription package. For that I had to buy a new package (with the domain swatmission.de) and want to transfer my old website (from swat-mission.com) to the new one. Though its a new subscription with strato (they call it web perfect) it is hosted on a different server.

Best regards from germany

Yes, you can use the Site Transfer Wizard but it's not the only way. You can always back up your site and restore it in the new domain. Remember that an Akeeba Backup archive contains all of the files and database data of your site. Restoring a backup archive creates an exact clone of your site.

Hi Nicholas,

just for clarification: the new name of the domain and different ftp/Database and so on are NOT a problem? :-)

No, of course not. Akeeba Backup is designed to create backups which can be restored on a different domain name, with different database connection information, even on different server technologies (e.g. from a Linux with Apache to a Windows server with IIS). The Site Transfer Wizard simply takes a backup but instead of putting it into an archive it transfers it by FTP to wherever you tell it to.
