Description of my issue:

Dear Akeeba,
We have a problem to restore the automatic backup (cron --> "/path/to/php" /var/www/myfolder/cli/akeeba-backup.php --profile=5).

We use Akeeba Backup regularly from years and the problem has only occurred recently, since we migrated our site to Joomla 2.5.

After restore of the automatic backup, the contents of the articles, custom modules, objects in the components, etc... are not complete (only few lines).

If I download the .jpa automatic generated and I extract it, in the sql files I can see different characters. For example an "à" is write "‡" in the automatic backup and "√†" in the backup genrated from back end.

If I run a backup with the same profile (same id # 5) from the back-end, the recovery goes smoothly.

The system where are the two folders (backup and restore) has the following characteristics:
Database Version: 5.1.63-0+squeeze1
Database Collation: utf8_general_ci
PHP Version: 5.3.3-7+squeeze14
Web Server: Apache/2.2.16 (Debian)
WebServer to PHP Interface: apache2handler
Joomla! Version: Joomla! 2.5.7 Stable [ Ember ] 13-September-2012 14:00 GMT
Joomla! Platform Version: Joomla Platform 11.4.0 Stable [ Brian Kernighan ] 03-Jan-2012 00:00 GMT

We are using:
Akeeba Backup Professional 3.6.5 (2012-09-14)
Kickstart 3.3.2

If can be useful, we have installed before the free version of Akeeba Backup and in a second time the Professional version.

Can you help us?

This is a known issue in 3.6.5 Please try installing our latest dev release. I need one more positive test before releasing this version as stable.
