Description of my issue:

I have been to your shortly demonstration in Denmark and several of the goodies you told have been very easy to implement and thanks :-)

I have the with one of the things you talk about. You said it was possibly to make backup of all the sites you have in one time. It sound like you need to have one site that should start the process and I have. But I just don´t have any glue about how to connect the different sites with my site that should start the proces.

I sound like a cool option and the perfect way to fast controll all the sites. I have been seaching both ways to see how the beginning site could be connectet with the other sites that should start copy, and the other sites how they could connect with the beginning site and I just don´t get it. Thanks so much for a brilliant software :-)

Hello Michael,

If all of your sites are on the same server, it's relatively easy to do that. The pre-requisite is that one of your sites can have read only access to the files of the other sites to back up, as well as be able to communicate with the database server where the other sites' files are located. If you are not sure if this is possible, ask your host.

If this is possible, you need to create one backup profile per site you want to back up. This can be done using the Profiles Management feature of Akeeba Backup Professional. For each profile, go into the Configuration page. In there you will find a section called "Site Overrides". You will have to check the two checkboxes, "Site root override" and "Site database override", and fill the respective fields with the path and the database connection information of the site you want to back up. You can find further information in our documentation (this is the link to the page explaining all the Site Override options).

If this is not possible, you can use our Akeeba Remote CLI script. Please note that this is a script for advanced users and IT managers who want to automate backing up multiple sites. I am not sure of your experience level. I remember that during my session at Denmark I did discuss with someone about Remote CLI being a good option for him. I frankly can't remember who that was. If you are comfortable with CLI scripts and CRON jobs, or if you have a team who does supporting you, I can give you more information about it.

I would not say that I am comfortable with cron jobs. I had just been follow your description and it works perfectly for me :-) and had been using it for some time now. So yes I have the action buttom to make it automatic I just need them to be apple to connect all the other sites to the start site.

So it would be perfect if you could give me more information about it.

Thanks for the link I will try to find time one of the nearst days to play with it to see if I can get the overrides works for me.

Hello Michael,

OK, forget everything I said in the last paragraph of my last reply :) Read the first two paragraphs. This is what you need. In short:
1. check with your host that your site can access the files of all other sites you have on the same server
2. set up new backup profiles, one for each site to back up, following the documentation

If you get stuck somewhere, please ask me and I'll help you out!
