Hi Nicholas,

I am interested in using the site tranfer option within akeeba backup pro to move sites from a test server to their final location server.

The challange is that the hosting servcie that I am using uses separate servers to house the site files and the databases, each optimised for their separte roles.

When initially seting up Joomla I can, of course, set the path to each of the servers involved without difficulty. However, when I come to TRANSFER as site I really need to be able to specify both the target server for the site and the target server for the database - is this possible?

You don't have to do anything special. Just run the transfer wizard. Just like with any restoration, you will be asked for the database connection details. Essentially the Site Transfer Wizard runs a backup. Instead of putting the files in an archive which you'd have to extract to the new server it copies all files –including the Akeeba Backup Installer script– directly to the remote site. Then, it simply forwards you to the /installation/index.php URL of the new site so that Akeeba Backup Installer (ABI) can complete the site restoration. ABI is designed to ask you for db connection details exactly because of cases like yours. There you have it, nothing special to do :)
