Description of my issue:

Nicholas,

I installed AB Pro in my testing site and ran the Configuration Wizard. I have a few questions on configuring AB Pro. I will go through all the documentation completely today but some of these are probably very basic settings that I wanted to get working to run the first site backup with AB Pro.

1) In the site backend control panel there is the Akeeba Backup Notification Module listed under the Quick Icons window. It says "This module is not longer supported on J2.5... Please use Quick Icon - AB Notification instead".
Do I need to remove an old plugin/module not compatible with my J2.5.8 site?

2) The AB Pro control panel screen says: "You must enter your Download ID before you can update Akeeba Backup Professional. For more information, please read our instructions."
I read the instructions link page on your site but I'm not clear on how to correct this. I already had my Akeeba subscription download ID enabled when I installed AT Pro a few months ago. I have attached a screenshot of that setting in AT Pro Options. Do I just need to logout and restart my browser to clear the cache to remove this message?

3) I have the two profiles from the AB free installation. Now I want to remove them and start with the default profile settings of AB Pro since you probably have better default settings for me to use in AB Pro. Basically the two profiles I had backup the full site and database, and the other backs up just the site database. Is there a button to reset all the settings to your AB Pro recommended defaults after running the config wizard analysis?

3a) The only filters that I need is for AB Pro to not backup my folder when I store the AB backup files and not backup FLV Flash video files on my site. So I will use the following setting in the RegEx file exclusion:
Exclude File: #\.flv$#i

4) In the Site Transfer Wizard feature of AB Pro, do you recommend I use the setting: "Create a new profile, resetting its settings to default"?
This seems like a great feature since I want to be able to restore/replicate my site easily so it seems like this feature does that. I just don't know if it's better to use my old profile setting or create a new one in AB Pro.

Thanks!

1. No, you don't need to do anything. The module automatically enables the plugin for you and disables itself. The next pageload should not have this warning anymore.

Do I just need to logout and restart my browser to clear the cache to remove this message?

2. No, you have to follow the instructions to the letter. Please remember that you have to enter the Download ID in Akeeba Backup's component configuration page. You had entered it in Admin Tools. They don't "talk" with each other. Each one must have the current and correct Download ID entered in its own configuration.

Is there a button to reset all the settings to your AB Pro recommended defaults after running the config wizard analysis?

3. No. The default backup profile (profile #1) is reset when you used the Configuration Wizard. Now go into Manage Profiles, select all other profiles and click on Delete. Done!

3.a. Correct. Remember that the filters are per-profile. You need to enter them for each and every profile. The currently active profile is always shown at the top section of Akeeba Backup pages.

I just don't know if it's better to use my old profile setting or create a new one in AB Pro.

4. It's always best to start with a new profile. Using an existing profile is an advanced feature for people who have a reason to do so. If you have to wonder if you should do it then you probably don't have a reason to, so don't :)
