Description of my issue:

Hello, when I try to do a backup, I get this error:

AJAX Loading Error
HTTP Status: 500 (Internal Server Error)
Internal status: error
XHR ReadyState: 4
Raw server response:

I spent years using Akeeba and is the first time it happens.

Best regards,

Andrei

As you can see in the last few lines of the log:

[121221 03:30:21] -- Loading filter Directories.php.INFECTED
[121221 03:30:21] -- Loading filter Files
[121221 03:30:21] -- Loading filter Tables.php.INFECTED

This means that something has modified your site's .php files and created copies of them with a .php.INFECTED.php extension (yes, there are two .php extensions in there). This screws up Akeeba Backup. The solution is:

  • First, please make sure that your site is not compromised. This .INFECTED.php extension is making me very concerned
  • Uninstall and reinstall the component. You will lose all your backups and settings in the process.
