The simple fact of life is that there is no way for the updater to know if your Download ID is wrong, your subscription has expire, there is a firewall between you and us, our server is down, a proxy is corrupting the download or your server has a broken version of the PHP zip library (among other things; the list is not exhaustive!). Solving the first two issues would be possible, but it would require us to scale our infrastructure up in a very signifficant way. We are talking about multi-tier database, custom database drivers, load balancers, multiple nodes syncing with rsync, a CDN acting as a caching proxy, the works. This is too expensive to support with the low priced subscription prices we offer. The very cost associated with this would have to be passed to our clients, with a price hike in the area of 25% to 30%. I'm sure you would mind that more than having to re-enter your Download ID.
