Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? yes
Joomla! version: 2.5.8
PHP version: 5.3.15
MySQL version: 5.5.23-55
Host: HostGator
Akeeba Backup version: 3.6.12

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:

I upgraded to new version. Had warning of requiring php 5.3, added

# Use PHP 5.3
AddType application/x-httpd-php53 .php

per HostGators Docs.

Went into Akeeba and had the 'I agree' section, agreed and hit the button, now I get a 500 error of the Akeebe control panel, no other component or site is effected.

Thanks in advance.

I would suggest trying a reinstall of the component, without uninstalling it first. Most of those inexplicable issues after an upgrade are, in fact, a failed or partial upgrade.

You are right. I forgot to tell you one important step. You have to disable the "System - System Restore Points" plugin before trying to reinstall the component.

OK, disabled restore points, reinstalled and get succesful installation message. See screenshot.

Ok to components->akeebe and get 500 error.

The website encountered an error while retrieving https://newli.org/administrator/index.php?option=com_akeeba. It may be down for maintenance or configured incorrectly.

Go to your site's Global Configuration and set Error Reporting to "Development" and Debug Site to Yes. Then visit the Akeeba Backup page again. What is the error message you see?

OK, that means that one part of Akeeba Backup wasn't installed. Here's what to do:

  • Delete the libraries/fof directory from your site
  • Unzip Akeeba Backup's ZIP package which you can download from our site
  • Copy the entire fof directory into your site's libraries directory

This will replace the old FOF library with the new version that Joomla! didn't install when you tried updating Akeeba Backup.
