Joomla! version: 2.5.7
PHP version: 5.3.16
MySQL version: mysql-5.0.90
Host: ovh.fr , Gentoo Linux x86_64
Akeeba Backup version: 3.6.12
PHP memory_limit 128M 128M

Description of my issue:

------------

Backup Failed
The backup operation has been halted because an error was detected.
The last error message was:

AJAX Loading Error
HTTP Status: 500 (Internal Server Error)
Internal status: error
XHR ReadyState: 4
Raw server response:
Internal Server Error

---------------

I've read and followed the guidelines of these two topics:

"I get a blank page or Internal 500 error accessing Akeeba Backup or trying to backup"
"Akeeba Backup throws an AJAX Error, 500 Internal Server Error or the backup does not complete"

But this did not help (deleting specifics folders, reinstalling, etc.)

I have to mention that this is issue that prevents me to back the online shop often happens ! So I am able to back up once is a while the site and for unknown reason I have the error mentionned above.

This is quite irritating. I remember once that I waited for one month and by change I was able to back-up the site ! If I can remember well, this issue started when I decided to switch to Akebba Backup Pro.

I now asking for assistance before switching to manual DB and www/ backup !

Please go to the Akeeba Backup Configuration page and set the following:

  • Minimum execution time: 1 second
  • Maximum execution time: 7 seconds
  • Runtime bias: 50%

Retry backing up. If that fails try the following settings:

  • Minimum execution time: 5 second
  • Maximum execution time: 3 seconds (yes, the maximum is less than the minimum, it's not a typo)
  • Runtime bias: 50%

If this still doesn't work please ZIP and attach the backup log files from the backup attempts using each of these setting sets so that I can better understand what's going on.

Thank you for your prompt answer.

It did work !

The backup is much slower but I don't care, it does work with the first settings, that's all good.

I did play with these settings before but probably did not understand them and had no chance.

Thank you !

You're welcome!

You may want to try speeding things up. You can try increasing the maximum execution time by 1 secon until you have failed backups. Then just decrease the maximum execution time by one second and you've found the maximum backup speed on your server.
