Description of my issue: I tried to retore an old backup (from mid last year).  The installation went well up till the "Remove installatio directory screen.  Akeeba couldn't write the configuration.php file.  I copied the info from the box into a new file and saved as configuration.php, then uploaded to the root directory where it should be.  Then I clicked Remove Installation Directory (actually I have done this part in about every conceivable variety of orders).  I get a blank screen instead of my site with the message

"No configuration file found and no installation code available. Exiting..."  if I haven't copied over the configuration.php file first or the Vist backend or frontend screen if I have.  Clicking Visit either puts me back at that screen pretty much instantly.

If I navigate to www.forceonefitness.com all that happens (same if I try for the admin login) is it downloads a file.

I have run the installer 5-6 times at least with no difference.  I just don't know what to do next.

Thanks.

You have either not created the configuration.php file in the correct directory (or at all?) or its permissions are not at least 0444 (recommended: 0644)

Hi Nicolas

Thanks for the quick reply, but you're not getting away that easily!! LOL!

The file is definitely there, with permissions of 644.  I was just so surprised to have this happen - Akeeba is a Godsend and always (until today!!) never missed a beat except for pilot error!!

I have attached the current config.php.  This was created from the code in the Remove Installation Directory window in Notepad++ (though I doubt that matters, but trying to give as full a description as possible).

OK, now I understand what happened. Your backup did not include a valid configuration.php file. This caused the generated configuration.php file to be partial and not work.

What you have to do is download Joomla! 2.5.9, extract it locally and take a look at configuration.php-dist. Copy over all keys (starting with "public") from that file in your configuration.php file right above the closing curly brace ( } ).
