Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the related troubleshooter articles above before posting (which pages?)? Yes
Have I searched the tickets before posting? Yes
Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? Yes
Joomla! version: (2.5.9.)
PHP version: (5.3.)
MySQL version: (5.0.)
Host: (DreamHost)
Akeeba Backup version: (3.7.2.)

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue: On many of my sites, I get this message when I go to the Akeeba Backup component:

Your database tables are corrupt

Akeeba Backup has detected that its database tables are corrupt. This indicates a problem with your MySQL server. Please make sure that your host has at least MySQL 4.1 (5.0 or later recommended). Then try uninstalling and re-install the component. Backups can not be made unless this problem is fixed.

I contacted my host, and their response was: We're running MySQL 5.0 on all database servers.Β  The error is likely a recommendation based on the issue coming from the database.Β  I recommend that you notify the support team for your plugin to help determine what the issue may be.

Is this an upgrade from an earlier version of the component and, if so, which version?

Yes, they are all upgrades -- I've used Akeeba and Admin Tools on all of my sites for years (and thanks, by the way, they're brilliant!).

Now that I think about it, I think the ones that are corrupted are still at 3.6.9., not 3.7.2. I'd have to check all th sites to confirm this, but that's my impression. On the one site where I tried to follow the directions and uninstall/reinstall, the uninstall failed.

The reason I am asking is because Akeeba Backup 3.7.2 has code to automatically fix database issues. I can't reproduce the issue and I'm quite sure that installing 3.7.2 and reloading the Akeeba Backup Control Panel page twice should fix any database issues.

Ok, that seems to work. I've tried two of the sites so far. I get these errors:

  • Plugin Uninstall: Manifest file invalid or not found.
  • Plugin Uninstall: Manifest file invalid or not found.

but it seems to work nonetheless. It lost the ID number, but I just put it back in, and it seems fine. Will continue with the rest of the sites.

Thanks,

Matt

All right! Thank you very much for your feedback. I've had other clients with the same problem and I did suggest this method of working around the problem. You're the first one to respond with the results. I'm glad to know that the automated database fix feature (which I created exactly for cases like this) does work :)

Glad to be able to do something for you when you have done so much for us.

All sites now upgraded and apparently working fine. Thanks so much!
