Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the related troubleshooter articles above before posting (which pages?)? yes
Have I searched the tickets before posting? yes
Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? No
Joomla! version: 2.5.9
PHP version: 5.3.22
MySQL version: 5.1.68-cll
Host: Midphase
Akeeba Backup version: 3.5.a1 (2012-05-09) (I cannot seem to update it - it will not accept the key code)

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:

(This may be partially Admin Tools problem also)

My issues starts with an articles "Essential Health Checks for Your Joomla Site -by os training" (http://www.ostraining.com/blog/joomla/joomla-checks/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter) which was very interesting as I have an issue with a lot of "exceeding cpu usage" warninns on my site from my server.

I have been using akeeba backup and love it.

I did most of the things on the page including installing Admin and then notice this 500 error on my site (attached) (including fixing database errors from extension manager)
The I restored the site successfully with akeeba. I tried doing less of the things suggested and got back to just installing Admin Tools only. The first time I installled it, it was not showing in the componets folder so I installed it again - then it was in the folder but when I went to akeeba backup I received this big yellow notice:

"Your database tables are corrupt
Akeeba Backup has detected that its database tables are corrupt. This indicates a problem with your MySQL server. Please make sure that your host has at least MySQL 4.1 (5.0 or later recommended). Then try uninstalling and re-install the component. Backups can not be made unless this problem is fixed."

Then I run a backup from a copy and get it back again
I think installing it a 2nd time corrupted something

Also all of my previously available backups are no longer in the akeeba folder on my site (kinda scary) - fortunately I had downloaded a copy

Should I try installing the pro version? I think something is wrong with my database - but I do not have the technical skills to fix it.

No. You should just install Akeeba Backup Professional 3.7.4 and try visiting its control panel page twice. This will auto-fix the database issues.

Important: whenever you uninstall the component, Joomla! removes all of its directories, including the default backup directory (administrator/com_akeeba/backup). That's why your old backups disappeared.

Ok - I downloaded a copy of Akeeba Backup Professional 3.7.4 and installed it ok. Then I installed Admin tools, but I cannot see them in the Components folder. I checked in the extensions Manager and they are there, but I cannot get to them. The last time, I installed Admin Tools again (twice) but it messed up Akeeba Backup.

How do I get Admin Tools to show in Components?

Ugh, welcome to the buggy world of Joomla!'s built-in Extensions Manager. You are bitten by a known bug in Joomla!, one which several people tried to isolate and none was able to find a proper patch. You can work around it, but it's manual labour. Please take a look in our installation troubleshooting under "Joomla! 1.6/1.7/2.5 installation problems".
