Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the related troubleshooter articles above before posting (which pages?)? Yes
Have I searched the tickets before posting? Yes
Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? Yes
Joomla! version: (2.5.8)
PHP version: (3.3.22)
MySQL version: (5.531)
Host: (Apache 2.2.24)
Akeeba Backup version: (3.7.7)

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:

Hello!

"all the sudden" the backup ends with the "Ajax loading Error"/ Internat server error. Serveral attempts.

I have gone through the troubleshooting wizzard, activated the config. wizzard and tried several times. Changed the php exec time. It's set by the hoster to "0"/endless. Webspace a lot. But no success with Akeeba Backup Pro.

Beginning of the last week, I activated URL rewrite and therefore tried to secure my site via .htaccess. I followed the tutorial on joomla-security.de . Have the impression, that site got "to thight"? I'm not familiar with htaccess.
The component "form to email" (form editor) does now not reload it's captcha. The developer sent a new file to "compensate" the new htaccess file.

log file attached.

The security settings are irrelevant. You have a timeout issue. Please follow the instructions on the page linked in the error message when the backup fails – they do apply to your case.

Hello Nicholas,

thanks for Your answer! Naturally I went through the page shown after the error. I phoned with the supporter of the hoster (strato.de) and he said to me (as it reads in the php setup in the backend) that the PHP_exec_time ist set to "0" , that means "endless". At the moment Akeeba hat "7" as maximum exec time.
I'm totally unhappy with that .htaccess thingy, because I *do need* security for the site of our town, but I do not understand really its inwards. If a (sub-)directory has a "deny from all", how can a processes like AkeebaBack write its backup files in there?

Do you mind to have a look in the backend of that site and setup of AkeebaBackup?

How do you do? ...

Ah, you should have told me it's Strato. Go to your Akeeba Backup Configuration page, find the Archiver Engine row, click on Configure, set the Part Size for Split Archives to 5Mb. Done.

Solved! The Backup file size exceeded some server quota

Your knowledge and experiences are simply admirable, Nicholas! I'm again deeply impressed (and rightly the Akeeba software suite is quasi standard of the Joomla security...)

That was is: By enlarging my site bit by bit I just exceeded the quota!
I have a semi professional hosting package at strato.de and now it turns out, that at 25MB backup archive the quota for a single file is reached. These 25 MB had been all the time enough – untill yesterday.

Thanks a lot!

You're welcome!

Practice makes perfect. After having answered some 16,000 tickets there are some crazy issues that I can recognise immediately. That's why I always for seemingly unrelated info like the host and the PHP version ;)

That's because I'm convinced, that a human expert person is more valuable and can pinpoint the absurdest issues instantly than any "computerized knowledge database".

OK.

Depending on the type of the question that may or may not be true :)
