Hello Maryann,

Testing a backup, moving a site and restoring a backup is actually the same thing. You can follow our instructions (quick start guide or video tutorial) for restoring a site using Kickstart. You will restore the backup on your MAMP. That's pretty much how I test my backups – I use Zend Server instead of MAMP but, frankly, it's the identical procedure. I like creating versatile solutions which only require you to learn how to do one thing and reuse it in different use cases. I hope that resonates well with my users, too :)

Thanks Nicholas. the Kickstart video only guides us through restoring the site to a live server. Do you have any videos/transcripts about restoring locally to a MAMP environment?

That's what I'm saying. It doesn't matter if you're restoring locally or on a live site. It's the same thing. Instead of uploading the files you just copy them using Finder. That's where the differences begin and end.
