Hello:

Trying to restore a site that was using https:// - and whether backing up directly or via akeeba extractor we are getting error message below, searching support:

SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length.

(Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long

Looking through Akeeba support and docs maybe i'm just missing what we're doing wrong.

Best,

John

This is a hosting issue. The target server does not support SSL (HTTPS) correctly. Please contact your host.

Hello:

We are trying to reconstruct the site via Akeeba extractor with the https rewrites removed. Rochen pointed out to me that

http://startnowagency.com/robots.txt

works ok but the site

http://startnowagency.com

is still generating https server error

i edited htaccess and configuration files, maybe i'm missing an instance?

not sure if you can help with this issue or not, but thanks for taking a look,

best,

John

Try removing the configuration.php file completely. Then you will have to edit the configuration.php file and set
public $force_ssl = '0';

to tell Joomla! that it should not try to use HTTPS.
