Joomla! version: (unknown) 2.5.14
PHP version: (unknown) 5.3.26
MySQL version: (unknown)
Host: (optional, but it helps us help you)
Akeeba Backup version: (unknown) 3.8.0 (2013-09-09)

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:

Hi,

Ihave the same issues like kabbalakurser. No actualisation orbackup possible, what was never a problem before. With your hint to deactivate System - System Restore Points plugin I was able to update on Akeeba 3.8.0 VERY NICE. BUT still the backup function doesn't work. When I try it comes (in German): "Backup failed; couldnt write to the archive file ..."

Please help me soon. TY.

According to the log file you run out of disk space:

ERROR |130910 11:57:26|Couldn't write to the archive file; check the output directory permissions and make sure you have enough disk space available.[len=81920 / 131072]

As a rule of thumb you need 40-50% of your quota limit free before taking a backup.

Hi again, ty for replieing, but this seems not to be the reason. Because after clearing cahce and so, it worked. BUT it made now not a single backup file, but 294 parts of a backup file (see attached jpg)

I surely have enough disk space and each time I tried to backup before, the value of [len=81920 / 131072] was complete different and made no sense. E.g. [len=410 /600]
Please try to figure out, what's wrong here. In my next post, I attach the last protokoll.

Hi again, ty for replieing, but this seems not to be the reason. Because after clearing cahce and so, it worked.

Which means that I was right, as clearing the cache frees up space in your web site's hard disk. I don't understand how freeing up space (which is what I told you was running out) disproves my point.

BUT it made now not a single backup file, but 294 parts of a backup file (see attached jpg)

As per your configuration. Please read the documentation.

I surely have enough disk space

No you don't.

and each time I tried to backup before, the value of [len=81920 / 131072] was complete different and made no sense. E.g. [len=410 /600]

Which means that you are running out of space. The len part of the error message is debug information. For example, 81920 / 131072 means that Akeeba Backup had 131072 bytes to write in its buffer but only 81920 bytes were written before you run out of disk space. Since the buggers are dynamic yes, the numbers will be different.

Recapitulation: You are running out of disk space. You can either free up space on your site or not be able to take backups. It's your choice but please stop asking me what to do; I told you from my first reply.

Sry for steeling your time, but unfortunately I am not a pro and I really can't imagine, how to run out of disk space with such a small site and a quite normal webspace package with lots of disk space, but you are for sure right then.

Greetings
Markus
