Joomla! version: 2.5.14
PHP version: 5.3.26
MySQL version: 5.5.32
Host: ICDSoft
Akeeba Backup version: 3.8.1

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue: Never used Kickstart Pro before, though have used Kickstart dozens of times with no problems. Wanted to try direct download of files from Amazon.

I downloaded Kickstart Pro 3.7.0, uploaded kickstart.php to a test folder and navigated to it by URL. Kickstart opened fine, but would not open the window for Amazon credentials. Nothing at all happened.

So I downloaded Kickstart Pro 3.6.0 and went through the same process. This time I got the Amazon window, entered credentials and began an archive download. All went well until about the 50% mark and then the download stalled. I waited several minutes and then aborted the download.

I thought that perhaps there was a problem with the archive, so I created another backup from the same website. Then I tried the Amazon download process again with the new archive with the same result as previously - download went smoothly until the 50% mark and then stalled.

Thanks for your help on this!

Gary,

Problems transferring files to S3 can frequently be resolved by using a smaller part size for the archive. How big is the file you are trying to transfer with Kickstart?

The files are 20MB. I've found this size works well for the Akeeba backup stage - they transfer to Amazon well. But perhaps they don't retrieve as well. Interestingly, half of the archive transferred just fine before it stalled.

That was my only idea. I'm sure Nicholas will be able to solve it. He is attending Joomla! Day Switzerland and will not return until Monday.

Kickstart 3.6.0 had a bug with the Amazon S3 integration. You need the new version. Remember to upload all necessary files from the Kickstart package, including the two all important Javascript (.js) files.

Having the Javascript (.js) files took care of it. Could you add to the instructions that those two files are absolutely necessary? Since I've used Kickstart for years, I just assumed the basic .php file was all that was necessary.

Thanks for a great tool that works splendidly!

Instructions:
[In order to use this feature, upload Akeeba Kickstart Professional into the root of the site where you want to restore your backup and run it. Right under Step 1 you will see a small blue button reading Import from Amazon S3. Click on it. The following page appears:]

These are not always required. In most cases and most modern browsers Kickstart is able to load them directly from the third party servers they are stored. Only when this is not possible you need to upload the two .js files. Previous versions (over a year ago) used to include the contents of those files, but that proved to be a huge issue when we tried updating Kickstart.
