Hi,
I don't know how to configure Akeeba for cloud storage. The screenshots I've seen do not appear the same as the version that I have. I've paid and downloaded the Akeeba Professional.
Your help is appreciated.

Joe,

Go to Configuration, in the Advanced Configuration section, the Data processing engine line, and select your cloud storage from the drop down menu. Then click the Configure button to set up the details. You can find more detailed descriptions in the documentation at: https://www.akeebabackup.com/documentation/akeeba-backup-documentation/data-processing-engines.html.

Thank you. Do I delete the output directory?
I ask because last night I ran a backup that caused an out of disk space error on my server. They told me not to backup to the server but use cloud storage or offsite storage.

It doesn't actually create the backup on the cloud. The backup is created locally and transferred to the cloud. You can split the archive and upload the parts immediately, but you are just delaying the inevitable, you need more disk space.

If you have multiple backups stored on your site, you can move them to your cloud storage. If you used Akeeba to install the site on this host, check the root to make sure the original backup was deleted. That usually doesn't go unnoticed, but it is worth a try.

If you have a large amount of static data, such as a photo folder, you may be able to save space by excluding that folder from your backup - and backing it up manually. That would reduce the size of the backup archive.
