Description of my issue:

Can you advice me please:
I need to backup a neglected Joomla 2.5.3 website of a new customer.
I want to create backup, restore the backup local, update Joomla and refresh the site local and finally move the site as a healthy 2.5.19 site to new provider (Siteground).

I searched the forum and read the Compatibility page.
Unfortunately Version 3.6.12 is still supporting PHP 5.2, but it only supports Joomla! 2.5.5+

So my question which version of Akeeba Backup Pro can I use for a Joomla! 2.5.3 site on PHP 5.2.17?

BTW: Complicating, ridiculous issue is that the provider only give FTP access to only 2 directories of the Joomla! site.... (I couldn't believe it...) So creating backup using FTP is not an option. (Probably is this site installed using an installer like Installatron...) Yes there are really weird providers....

Maybe can I use Akeeba Backup 3.4.3 for Joomla! 2.5.3?

I think that will work. I can tell you that it won't fail subtly. If it fails, we'll know it. There was a new core function added to 2.5.6 that 3.10.x needs, that's why that version won't work.
