EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:
When trying to update backup pro via joomla updater ( component did not show it needed updating ) instead of it succeeding it produce the error shown in the image.

The 403 error indicates that your site can not communicate with our update servers. This may be caused by your host's firewall.

Please ask your host to open communications over TCP port 80 to cdn.akeebabackup.com (note to host: this is a CDN, the hostname resolves to different sets of IPs based on geolocation) and TCP port 443 to www.akeebabackup.com.

dale, is this a new requirement starting with this version? Cause we've never had this issue before.
as a host I would be surprised that we need to put in entries for customers specific software.
plus I think if you look @ the error "Package download failed: https://www.akeebabackup.com/component/ars/?view=download&id=2629&dlid=&dummy=my.zip&dlid=f59dc56e82df68a701aff125a97e25e7" the dummy=my.zip is probably the problem.

Lastly why isn't the "need to update" showing in akeeba backup like it always has in the past

It is not a new requirement, the old Live Update would have used the same url for the updates as Joomla!'s Extensions Update does.

The cdn.akeebabackup.com resolves to different IP addresses based on your web server's IP address. It picks an update server close by.

It normally doesn't throw a 403, but check that your Download ID is correct. They all changed back in December and had to be updated. You would normally get a "can't download" message from that.

The system didn't warn me that you had edited your message while I was replying.

Please check the Extension Manager Update page. I think the url will be different there.

The update information is back on the Control Panel in 3.11.0

I'm glad you found the problem. The Download IDs are based on your email address and hashed password in our system. If the email address or password are changed, that will change the primary Download ID. The issue was different with the December 25 change, we updated to Joomla! 3.2, with the new password hash, which changed everybody's Download ID.

You can use Add-On Download IDs, which are independent of the email and password hash.
