So I went to one of my clients sites to add some content and noticed that there was a Joomla update and add-on updates. When I went to the add-on updates, it had both Admin Tools Pro and Akeeba Backup Pro as having new updates available. So I clicked the update and got the 'Oh Dear' message. From past experience, I suspected that the ID's had changed 'again' so I pulled up my last list of ID's which had previously changed and put in the last Akeeba ID I had for for this site. Viola! Admin Tools and Akeeba Backup installed.

So then I went to do the Joomla update and I got this error message which was when it went to do a backup before updating:

403 - An error has occurred.

Access forbidden

Return to Control Panel

What? I just updated the ID's. So I search the tickets to see if anyone was having this problem and everything pointed to incorrect ID's. So I looked at my Download ID for this site and was 'shocked' that it was different.

1005:617e07~~~~~~~~~~~~~d054

Now how could the first one allow a valid update of the Admin Tools and Akeeba Backup yet the 2nd one was on my list of Download ID's for this client's site on the Akeeba website?

As far as the Joomla update, it still gave me the 403 - An error has occurred so I'm not sure what is happening as I haven't had any problems updating with this site before.

But back to the Download ID's. It was my understanding that only the master Download ID changed if you changed your password but the individual Download ID's didn't change if you changed your password. Can you clarify how individual site Download ID's change?

Also, any ideas on why I'm still getting the 403 error?

Any ideas?

Unfortunately the add-on Download IDs also change when the password changes. Trying to do otherwise was opening a security hole in our clients' accounts.
