EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 10MiB, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

When updates are checked, Joomla 4 and Joomla 5 displays the message: "The checksum verification failed. Please make sure you are using the correct update server!"

A download of Akeeba Backup 9.8.2 and subsequent 'Upload Package File' works all right.

In Joomla 5, the update to 9.8.2 was shown, the online update seemed to have worked but after the iupdate the version remained as 9.8.1.

Here is the Joomla! Forum topic about the issues:  https://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=844&t=1005263

This was a problem with the CDN having gotten stuck. Yesterday I uploaded the release twice, within a few seconds, because of a small typo. Unfortunately, the CDN holding the update files started delivering the update XML file from the first attempt, which has a different checksum than the version actually being delivered.

I have reset the CDN now and verified that, at least from three different locations across the world I can check from, delivers the correct information.

However, that's not the end of it. Joomla! also has its own cache for update information. This means that your sites have now cached the wrong update information for the next 6 to 24 hours. Therefore, you need to go to System, Update, Extensions and click on Check for Updates to tell Joomla! to forcibly reload that information from our CDN, ignoring Joomla's own cache.

Then, you can update Akeeba Backup.
