Backup on Update – Powered by Akeeba Backup is very useful. However, If i go to options in Joomla Update and change the update channel (for instance from default to Joomla next  to get Joomla 5) backup on update is changed without my intervention from enabled to disabled. Is that expected behaviour?

Hello,

can you please double check if the plugin Backup on Update is flagged as enabled inside the plugin page?

The plugin is enabled both before and after changing the update channel. See the attached PDF with the sequence of screen shots.

I did some tests and indeed there's a bug, but it's just something minor. The backup on update flag is inverted after you visit the Options page (even if you do not perform any change). However, if you logout and login again, it will follow the original settings.

We will investigate on it, in the meantime can you please double check if it's still enabled after you login again?

I recognise that it is a minor issue, although I missed the fact that it had changed so did not get a backup on update from 4.4.2 to 5.0.2 which luckily did not matter, but could have done. I have some other sites to update to 5..0.2 but probably not till next week and will check and report  back then.
