I have just enabled "Delete after post creations" from the back-end of our Joomla site. From reading the documentation I understand that this option is there to allow us to specify if we would like an email to be deleted from the server once a new ticket has been created from it (we do have create tickets by email enabled).

However after enabling this I noticed that emails were being deleted from the mailbox even if a ticket had not been automatically created (e.g. if the person sent the email from an address not on the Joomla users list).

Would be very appreciative of some feedback and happy to walk through any troubleshooting as needed.

The behavior is correct. In this case they receive an automatic reply that they are sending an email from an unknown address. This means that their email has been processed, therefore it's deleted off the server.

Thanks for your quick response Nicholas. This makes sense! I'll close the ticket now.
