Hi,

When editing a ticket submitted by an end-user from the front-end I receive a 404 error when trying to change the creator of the ticket to another user (click on the user icon next to User - which is greyed out).

Is that by design?

No, that must be a recent bug in Joomla. This worked three weeks ago when I last used it.

Here's the thing. The user selection field is rendered by Joomla. We have no say in what clicking that button does. It looks like Joomla has messed up the URL it produces. Instead of using the site's root plus index.php (e.g. https://www.example.com/index.php) it uses the current URL plus index.php (e.g. https://www.example.com/tickets/1234-myticket/index.php) which is obviously wrong. So, you've hit a new Joomla bug. Sigh. I am 99% certain what the problem is without even looking at Joomla's code. It's an inconsistency in some places in Joomla's JavaScript I had spotted a couple of months ago when I was contributing improvements to the WebAuthn plugin (I am this feature's original contributor and de facto maintainer, even though I have no official title in Joomla and no commit rights to the Joomla repository).

It looks like nobody else has reported this bug to Joomla yet. I will try to create a reproduction case which doesn't use Akeeba Ticket System and submit a patch to Joomla for inclusion in the upcoming Joomla 4.2 version, scheduled for August 17th.

Thank you for the heads up!
