 Hello,

I try to restore my website on a local server using Xampp.

I succeed in having a backup file (jpa file) thanks to Akeeba bakcup version 3.10.2. I downloaded it and extracted it with Akeeba extract wizard.
When installing, no errors at all. Everything works fine. But when I try to access my website (localhost/*****) i Have this message:

"404
Articler not found"

I checked on many website and of cours on Akeeba's support pages but found nothing that could fix my problem.

I don't understand why it is not working. I have another website and used same procedure wuthout any problem.

Here is a link to the new website of my cafetaria (still building it).

www.lacafetccm.be

Could somobody help me to fix this problem so I can continue developing my website in local and stop being afraid of losing everything?

In advance thanks for your help.

Wih best regdards,

If the front page of the local site is displaying properly, then disable your SEF settings. If you can't get into the back end, you can disable them by directly editing the configuration.php file in the root of your site.

If your local site works without SEF, then you need to look at mod_rewrite on your local server, it is not installed and/or not active.

If your front page is messed up, you need to add the url to your local site in the $live_site variable in configuration.php. From your description, I don't think that is the problem.

Dear Mr. Brackin,

Thank you for your quick reply.

I changed SEF settings value in my config.php file as written below (I can't access admin panel on the local website) :

public $sef = '0'; (was on 1)
public $sef_rewrite = '0'; (was on 1)
public $sef_suffix = '1';

Now, Homepage is working buit without css I think becaus I don't have any colours, menu style disapeared etc.

A new problem appeared:
I tried to click on a link but when I do, I'm directly redirected to Xampp homepage.

I tried to change the htacess file with the Akeeba admin tools (I did same thing for my othet website) but nothing changed).

But first I would like to have my template as it is appearing on my online website.

public $live_site = 'http://www.lacafetccm.be'; is ok I think

Another idea?

Best regards,

DL

You were on the right track, the next problem is the $live_site variable. The address you posted doesn't look right for a local server. It should probably be something like http://localhost/joomla. Without knowing your local server, I can't be exact.
