Hi I have one site that I'm having problems restoring the backups to localhost when I'm using Xampp.

I've made a full site backup and can restore that on localhost going to localhost/silversands-resort.com/kickstart.php.  Restore it to a new blank database that I've created and called newsilver .  The restore process runs through without an issue, until I do  the cleanup and then when I click on the visit the sites front end which should then be localhost/silversands-resort.com it takes me to a subdomain of the live site https://silversands-resort.com/en/ .  It takes me to https://silversands-resort.com/en/silversands-resort.com instead of localhost/silversands-resort.com.

So I'm guessing there is a setting I either need to change the Backup profile configuration or when I am doing the restore.

If I set the live site in the configuration file in Xampp to public $live_site = '/localhost/silversands-resort.com';  then if I enter localhost/silversands-resort.com it takes me to https://localhost/dashboard/ .

Can you offer any suggestions?  So far I haven't tried uninstalling Akeeba and reinstalling it as not sure if that will help, just a bit confused as I've been done the same with other Joomla sites recently as I've been upgrading the Joomla versions of the sites from 4 to 5 on localhost and then making a new backup and restoring that backup to new hosting and not had any issues restoring the other backups to localhost, so not sure what is different with this site, as I thought I'd used the same process and have retried to do it a number of times, but still seem to be getting this error.  So any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks

Phil

While in the Site Setup page of the restoration script, look at the right hand side of the main content area. You will see an item called "Replace main .htaccess file with default". Check it.

On the same page, on the left hand side, there is the "Live site URL" text box. Remove all of its contents.

This should work, unless you have some kind of SEO / SEF extension which overrides Joomla's default behaviour.
