Hello,

trying to move a website to another server and get this error message:

"The SFTP Connection Failed. Your web server does not have the SSH2 PHP module, therefore can not connect to SFTP servers."

Also tried it with the "Site transfer wizard", error message I get there: "Could not connect to the remote FTP server."

The website is hosted on a 1&1 server in Germany, also checked that username and password are working (with FileZilla).

Do you need any additional info from me?

Many thanks in advance
Torsten

Hello,

This means that you can't transfer it using SFTP because your host doesn't have the SSH module; moreover I suspect FTP connections are blocked by your hosting.
I'd suggest you to do in the "old way": backup + transfer and then restore on the new server.

Hello Davide,

thanks for the update. I´ve tried it both ways, with the "Site transfer wizard" and with the "old way", it´s not working.

Best regards

Let's try the backup + transfer method since it's more reliable.
You said you got a backup error, what's the error? Can you please attach the log of the failed backup?

Let's try the backup + transfer method since it's more reliable.

That´s what I´ve already tried and that is the action where I get the error "Your web server does not have the SSH2 PHP module..."

There´s no error in the backup itself, only when trying to restore the site on the new server. Please find the log attached as a ZIP file.

Best regards

That's strange: when you're restoring a backup using ANGIE, the SSH module is suggested, this means that even if you don't have it you can still restore the backup.
Can you please attach a screenshot of such error?

Hello Davide,

yeah, really strange and I´ve never had problems or errors with Akeeba backup and I´ve done restores dozens of times.

I´ve tried it last night with an other PC and there it was working. Not smooth an I got another error but it was working in the end.

So, the website is up now. Thanks again for your time, much appreciated.

Best regards
Torsten
